Korona hiipuu Saksassa edelleen. Saksan laajuinen Inzidenz (ilmaantuvuusluku) viikossa 100000 asukasta kohden on nyt 18,6. Kehitys on siis ollut parin viimeisen viikon ajan erittäin suotuisa. Hyvä niin ja toivottavasti tilanne pysyy tällaisena.

Siispä paikalliset viranomaiset julkaisivat ilouutisen! Lähiopetus sallitaan ensi maanantaista alkaen, eli 14.6 alkaen. Mulla tosin on pääasiassa saksan kielikursseja, jotka pysyvät etänä. Mutta Corporate Finance kurssin luentoihin tulee nyt mahdollisuus osallistua. Vähän mietitytti, kannattaako mennä, mutta päätin kuitenkin mennä. Luennolla on maskipakko ja minimietäisyyksistä on pidettävä huolta. Samoin läsnäolo täytyy rekisteröidä darfichrein.de sivustolle. Jännää. The exchange is cancelled

We cancelled the exchange yesterday. The Coronavirus situation is getting only worse, and there is no hope, that it would get better soon. That annoys, irritates and frustrates at the same time.

We have been dreaming of this for three years, when I decided to go back to school. We have planned and organized things for more than a year. Now the last weeks have been very busy, as we have organized the last things: packing for move, SIMs for mobile phones, travel insurances, the trips there etc. The departure came closer day by day, but still it was so unreal, that we didn't really understand that the departure will be soon. And then.. BOOOM. Before we even realized, we really are going, we should now realize, that we are NOT leaving.

Of course we have cancelled our apartment in Finland. We have brought part of our stuff to store. And now with 2 weeks notice we have to get a new apartment and to get help for the move despite the Coronavirus (and one of our kids is coughing and has mild fever).

Besides this, the coming time is going to be one of the most tight times financially ever. We decided with my wife, that we are committed to try next year again. I have only 4 months left of my adult student pay, and I want to save them for next year. The summer would be good times to finish my Master's thesis, but alongside work that would be too rough, and would my employer accept, that I come with so short notice from study leave back to work? My wife changes this month to home care allowance. I have to come along the summer with student pay, so that I save the adult student pay. So, my income will be 350 € per month, and I have to be careful, that the income limit for the whole year won't be exceeded, so I don't know if I get that for whole sommer 4 months or less or at all.

Luckily a cheap alternative for living was found. My parents old house has been almost empty lately, so we get to move there. Phew, it would have been too rought to look for an apartment in this situation and even for the cheapest possible because of low income.

So after a year we will try again to exchange. The University of Regensburg has promiset to be as unbureaucratic as possible and the happily accept us next year there. A very big thanks to them. The University of Vaasa has an official process which we have to go through, luckily it has positive assumption. The biggest issue is, if my graduation takes too long time. We have to hope, that the decision is positive. We well be waiting for that.

Der Austausch wurde abgesagt

Wir haben gestern den Austausch abgesagt. Die Coronavirus-Situation wird nur schlechter, und es gibt keine Hoffnung, dass die Situation bald besser wird. Es verdrießt uns. Es ärgert uns. Es frustriert uns.

Seitdem, als ich entschieden habe, zurück zur Schule zu gehen, haben wir davon viel geträumt. Mehr als Jahr haben wir Dinge geplant und auf die Beine gestellt. Diese letzten Wochen sind sehr eilig gewesen: für den Umzug zu verpacken, für Mobilfunk und Reiseversicherung sorgen, die Reise planen uws. Die Abfahrt kam näher Tag für Tag, aber trotzdem war es noch so unwirklich, dass wir echt nicht begriffen haben, dass die Abfahrt kommt sehr bald. Dann. PUM. Bevor wir begriffen haben, dass wir gehen, sollen wir jetzt verstehen, dass wir nicht gehen werden.

Wir haben ja die Wohnung gekündigt. Wir haben Teil unserer Gegenstände ins Lagen gebracht. Und jetzt mit zwei Wochen Warnzeit müssen wir für eine neue Wohnung sorgen, und Umzughilfe trotz des Coronavirus bekommen (ein unseres Kind hustet und hat geringes Fieber).

Wir werden finanziellweise knappste Zeit je haben. Wir haben mit meiner Frau entschieden, dass wir uns verpflichten, dass wir nächstes Jahr wieder versuchen. Ich habe nur 4 Monaten Erwachsenenstudiumgeld übrig, und ich möchte sie für den Austausch nächstes Jahr sparen. Der Sommer ist gute Zeit meine Magisterarbeit zu schreiben, aber neben Arbeit wäre das zu schwer, und würde mein Arbeitnehmer es genehmigen, dass ich mit so kurzer Warnzeit zurück von Bildungsurlaub zur Arbeit kommen würde. Meine Frau geht dies Monat zum Unterstützungsgeld für die Heimpflege von Kindern über. Ich muss diesen Sommer mit Studiumgeld zurechtkommen, dass das Erwachsenenstudiumgeld gespart werden wird. Also, mein Einkommen ist 350 € pro Monat, und ich muss darauf achten, dass die Jahreseinkommenbegrenzung nicht überquert werden wird. Deshalb weiss ich nicht, ob ich den ganzen Sommer 4 Monaten oder weniger oder nicht überhaupt Studiumgeld bekommen werde.

Zum Glück wurde eine günstige Wohnung gefunden. Das alte Haus meiner Eltern ist jüngst fast leer gewesen, so wir können dahin wohnen gehen. Huh, es würde sehr heftig sein, nach einer Wohnung in dieser Situation zu suchen. Und noch sehr billig wegen niedriges Einkommens.


Also, nach einem Jahr werden wir noch mal zum Austausch versuchen. Universität Regensburg hat versprochen so unbürokratisch wie möglich zu sein, und auch sehr gern uns empfangen wird. Sehr vielen Dank für sie. Bei Universität Vaasa muss einen offiziellen Prozess geachtet werden. Das größte Problem ist, falls die Beendigung der Studien zu lang dauert. Wir hoffen, dass die Entscheidung positiv ist und wir werden davor Angst haben.

The Impact of Coronavirus to the Exchange

The Coronavirus is romping at the moment around the world. The reporting is busy, and it is becoming to our consciousness also here in periphery of Finland. 10.3.2020 there are 40 cases in Finland, and 314 cases in Bayern. In Regensburg there are 3 cases. But what kind of impact this has to the exchange?

I have got an email from university of Regensburg last week, that the incoming dates are changed from 2.4.20 to 14.4.-15.4.20. Also the orientation is postponed and it will be organized mostly as online orientation. The actual studying is not postponed. The whole semester should not be postponed, but there might be changed in individual courses. Let's hope so, that the situation stays as such.

Our apartment is booked from 31.3. on and the flight tickets also. The travel insurance would cover the costs of postpone, but because we have cancelled our apartment here in Finland and planned also all other things, are we not going to postpone our travel for now. We will move to Germany 31.3.2020.

According to the reporting, the Coronavirus is not so dangerous for kids and young adults. Therefore we are not afraid for our health. The most irritating thing will be if we get two weeks quarantine, or if the university is going to cancel or postpone courses or someting similar.

12.3.2020 Update

The situation of Coronavirus changes so rapidly, that we can't view it as sure, that we manage to get on trip in planned schedule. We just have to look for the situation, follow the reports and act, as we see at best.

Der Einfluß des Coronavirus auf Austausch

Das Coronavirus randaliert zurzeit über die Welt. Es gibt viele Nachrichten darüber, und sie kommen zur Bewußtheit auch hier in Peripherie Finnland. In Finnland gibt es 10.3.2020 40 bestätigte Fälle, und in Bayern 314 Fälle. In Regensburg gibt es 3 Fälle. Aber was für einen Einfluß hat das auf den Austausch?

Ich habe letzte Woche eine E-Mail aus der Universität Regensburg bekommen, die mitteilt, dass der Ankunftstag des Austauschs von 2.4.20 bis 14.4.-15.4.20 verschoben wurde. Die Orientierung wurde auch verschoben, und sie findet weitgehend online statt. Der eigentliche Unterricht wurde nicht verschoben. Das ganze Semester soll nicht verschoben werden, aber einige Kurse können Veränderungen erhalten. Ich hoffe so, dass die Situation so bleibt.

Unsere Wohnung ist ab 31.3 gebucht und auch die Flugtickets. Die Reiseversicherung würde am wahrscheinlichsten die Verspätung der Reise entschädigen, aber weil wir die Wohnung in Finnland gekündigt haben und alle anderen Dinge auch geplant haben, werden wir die Reise bis auf weiteres nicht verschieben. Wir ziehen nach Deutschland 31.3.2020.

Den Nachrichten nach ist die Krankheit nicht so gefährlich für Kinder und junge Erwachsene, so haben wir keine Angst vor unserer Gesundheit. Es ist am ärgerlichsten, falls wir zwei Wochen Quarantäne bekommen, oder die Universität sagt Kurse ab, verschiebt Kurse oder etwas ähnlich.

12.3.2020 Aktualisierung

Die Situation des Coronavirus verändert sich so schnell, dass man es für sicher nicht halten kann, dass die Reise im Fahrplan passiert. Wir müssen nur auf die Situation achten, den Mitteilungen folgen, und so vorgehen, wie wir am besten sehen.
